"Capt Levi Barber -7 born 1 Nov 1814 in Harmar. Married on 31 Oct 1837 to Abigail M Kelly ( daughter ofJoseph and Cynthia Flagg Kelly. Abigail was born in marietta 18 May 1818 and died 9 Feb 1886. Capt Levi Barber died in 1887.

He was a contractor of US Govt work on rivers and d 4 May 1881 at St Lukes Hosp St Louis MO after an illness of five days. Mrs Cole and her son and dau were all born at 407 Fort St Marietta OH where she still resides (1907). Issue:

"Mrs. Cole lives in the house which was erected in 1833 by her grandfather, Col. Levi Barber, and which has sheltered four generations of his descendants. It stands on the north side of the old market square, which is the site of old Ft. Harmar, and directly opposite the point where the Muskingum River empties into the Ohio."

"...Lucy Mayberry Barber married James Franklin Cole in 1878. He was the son of Caius Martius and Nancy Scott Cole and was born at Briscoe Run WV in 1849. He graduated from Marietta College in 1871. He worked with his father, who took contracts with the Gov on repair work on river, building dams etc. He died in St Louis MO in 1881 while working on a river project. Two children were born to James and Lucy: Seldon Barber Cole (1879-1966), unmarried, and Lucy James Cole (1881-1973). Lucy Mayberry and family spent her entire life in and died in the Barber homestead.
"Lucy James Cole married Edwin Allen Flemming in 1900. He was the son of Thomas and Margaret Breckinridge Flemming born in 1864 at Fleming. They traveled throughout the southern states on construction with the L & N Railroad until 1909 when they returned to Washington County. Their children: Seldon Robert 1909-1979 married Ida Wilson, Boston 1945 (no children); James Cole (1911-1926) and Florence Louise (1913- ). Edwin and Lucy moved to the Barber homestead, where they spent the remainder of their lives.
"Florence Louise married Glenn Engle, son of William and Amelia Engle of Lowell. Children born: Annette 1939-1939, Linda Jeanne, 1941, married Richard Berry, Cleveland- 2 children- Scott 1964, Diane 1966; Edward Allen, 1943, married Cathy Stratton, Portsmouth- Erica Elaine 1979; Nancy Anne, 1953 married Charles Weinstock, Marietta.
