"According to the pedigree of the Lawrences of Ashton Hall, in Lancashire, Sir Robert Lawrence, a descendant of the above, had three sons- Nicholas, of Ayercroft, was the third. This Nicholas was the father of seven sons, of which John was the fourth, and under his name is written, 'from this John, are descended the Lawrences of Suffolk.'
"John, dying in 1461, left a son; Thomas, of Rumburg, in Suffolk, who made his will in 1471, and died the same year, leaving John, his eldest son, an heir to the estates in Rumburg, South Elmham, Spettishall, Wisset, and Holton."
