"According to the pedigree of the Lawrences of Ashton Hall, in Lancashire, Sir Robert Lawrence, a descendant of the above, had three sons- Nicholas, of Ayercroft, was the third. This Nicholas was the father of seven sons, of which John was the fourth, and under his name is written, 'from this John, are descended the Lawrences of Suffolk.'"
