Digest of Early Connecticut Probate Records, C W Manwaring, Vol II, p464: "Sam- uel Barbour's Will, 23 Feb 1738-9: John Barbour, a minor age 19 years, son of Samuel Barbour of Simsbury, chose Benjamin Hooker to be his guardian. Recog., L300. Item. I give unto my son Johnthe house, homelott and meadow lott lying in Hop Meadow, to him and his heirs forever...L40 to each [daughter] and that to be paid by my four sons at an equal proportion, Samuel, Thomas, Jonathan and John..."

"...There were four brothers (sons of Samuel Barber - 3rd Generation) who removed from the old parish (Windsor in 1738 to Simsbury and lived in that portion of it now called Canton, in Hartford County Connecticut) viz Samuel, Thomas, Johnathan, and John Barber, (all) of whom purchased land and lived contiguous to each other.
