"JOSEPH SEAMANDS...William Riley Seamands married Nancy Harshbarger (1 Jan 1810 - 28 May 1898) on 2 Mar 1829. A native of Botetourt County, she was a daughter of David Harshbarger and Elizabeth Beaheer. They made their home near Barboursville...During the war, Nancy [was] a prisoner in Wayne County because of their Southern sympathies...They are buried at Mud River Baptist Church Cemetery..."

"Willliam R Seamands was a son of Elijah G and Lucy (Sandridge) Seamands, who made their nome in Cabell county 11 Dec 1811. He was born in Albermarle (sic) county VA on the 5th of March 1809. His father was one of the most prominent of the early settlers here, and was a minister and one of the first school teachers. In what is now Union district, Cabell county, 5 Mar 1829 William R Seamands wedded Nancy Harshbarger, who was born in Botetourt county VA on New Years Day 1810. In Sep 1818, here parents David and Elizabeth (Beaheer) Harshbarger, made their home in Cabell county..."
