Ezekiel3 Hayes (Daniel2, George1)(31) was born in Simsbury, CT November 21, 1724. Ezekiel died October 17, 1807 New Haven, CT, at 82 years of age. He married twice. He married Rebecca Russell Branford, CT, December 26, 1749. Rebecca was born in New Haven, Ct. February 6, 1723. Rebecca was the daughter of Col., Judge John Russell and Sarah Trowbridge. Rebecca died May 27, 1773 in New Haven, Ct., at 50 years of age. McCracken notes that by this marriage Ezekiel allied himself with a family more prominent than that into which he was born. On this Russell famioly, see Gurdon W. Russell, M.D., LL.D. An Account of some of the Descendants of John Russell, etc., ed. by Edwin Stanley Wells (a most careful scholar) (Hartford 1910). He married Abigail Hitchcock. McCracken notes he was a blacksmith, scythe-maker, innholder and prominent citizen of both Branford and New Haven, CT. He was second child to bear this name.
