p29: "1.(I.) John Bigelow, a blacksmith, of Watertown, took the oath of fidelity, 1652, and was selectman 1665, '70, '71, He m 30 Oct 1642 Mary Warren [This is the earliest marriage found in the town records.] She d 19 Oct 1691 and he m (2d) 2 Oct 1694 Sarah Bemis. He d 14 Jul 1703 aged 86. Inventory L627,12. His will was dated 4 Jan 1702-1703and proved 28 Jul 1703.
"2.1. John b 27 Oct 1643; a housewright; settled in Hartford CT prior to 1669, in which year his land was taxed. He m Rebecca, dau of Jonathan Butler, of Hartford. His will, dated 1707, after providing for his wid (he had no chil) conveyed his estate to Jonathan Butler, and the farm has remained with the Butler family to this day. Some of Mr Bigelow's relatives attempted ineffectually to break this will.

He was fined 3 Nov 1685 'For insulting Lt Gov Stoughton and Dudley.' He d 20 Jan 1727/1728. She m(2d) 8 Jan 1728/1729 Adam Smith of Boston.

p86: "Sarah Lawrence's sister, Prentice [sic] Lawrence, married Jacob Barber (No. 239) a cousin of David. Sarah and Prentice Lawrence were descended from John Lawrence of Watertown, Mass., a summary of the lineage being as follows:
"Samuel Lawrence, b. 1711; m. Patience Bigelow, who was b. June 25,1717. He d. Apr 10, 1793. They lived at Killingly, and Simsbury, Conn.
Their daughters,

"Patience Bigelow, the mother of Sarah and Prentice Lawrence, was a descendant of the Bigelow family of Allerton Hall, the line of descent being as follows:
