Barbara "Allen" is thought to be the sister of Rose
Standish, first wife of Capt Myles. Captain Myles Standish was married at least
twice. His wife Rose accompanied him on the Mayflower to found the Plymouth
Colony, she died during the 'first winter'. No documentation has yet been found
to prove that they had a child/children. However a large group of Standish descendants believe, with considerable ancedotal support, that Thomas Standish
b. 1612 in England, 8 years old when the Mayflower sailed, and who came to
Plymouth Colony before 1640, was a founder of Wethersfield, CT, designed
and built the fort there before settlement and is said from contemporary accounts
to have the military training and physical resemblence to Capt Myles that indicates a relationship.
