Lineage- William Flegg [mentioned at end of Chapter I] living in county Norfolk in the reign of Henry IV was of the landed family, seated in Norfolk since 1160, of which we treat in the previous chapter. This William's father, whose name has not been ascertained, left issue,
The son, William Flegg, who died in 1426, leaving issue,

The son, Thomas Flegg of county Norfolk, died 1471 leaving issue a son, William Flegg of Swafield, county Norfolk, 1521, in the reign of Henry VIII. He had issue, five sons,
...4. John of Shipdham county Norfolk. His will proved 16 Mar 1581 mentions his son William and grandchildren John and Henry. 'In the 7th of Henry VIII [1516] John Flegg, Gentleman and Margaret Idel, widow convey Brokenham Ferry to Sir Ralph Verney,' [History of Norfolk]. He left issue, a son
