The Oxford History of EnglandThe Fifteenth Century 1399-1485, E F Jacob, Oxford Univ Press p25: "...Huntingdon, captured near Shoeburyness in Essex was taken to the countess of Hereford's castle of Pleshy and by her order delivered over [15 January 1400] to the revengeful men of Essex. The countess was sister to the late earl of Arundel; her daughter had been the wife of the late duke of Gloucester, and it was hardly to be expected that she would feel merciful towards Richard's supporters..." p63: "...The queen's [Joan of Britanny] grant was very considerable, in- cluding all the Bardolf and Mowbray possessions which had not been granted away to the king's [Henry IV of Derby] sons and his half brothers, Henry and Thomas Beaufort, to the countess of Hereford (his mother-in-law)..."
