"In the Harford Probate records it will be observed that the name of the fifth child of Thomas and Joan Barber is given as Mercy instead of Mary, as shown above. Also some records seem to indicate that she married a Hale, but theGillett family records furnish conclusive evidence of her marriage to John Gillett.
"It is possible that in the records showing the name of Hale her marriage was confused with that of her sister Sarah's to Timothy Hall, as a confusion of the names Hale and Hall is quite common."
