Wife of John Balliol. She is an extremely pivotal figure in Scottish History, being one of the heiresses of the Royal House of Dunkeld. After the last member of this family (Queen Margaret) died in 1290, King Edward I of England chose Princess Devorgilla's son, John Balliol as King of the Scots. He reigned for four years (1292-1296). His reign was dogged by Civil War with rival claimants to the throne, the Bruce family, who eventually won through when King Robert the Bruce finally made himself King in 1306.
