"...Captain Devol and family settled on the Muskingum, five miles above Marietta, after the close of the war iin 1795, and built a large mill, which was by far the most useful to the inhabitants of that day, of any in that part of Ohio. Sally married James C McFarland, and died in 1810, leaving three daughters and one son, who are connected by marriage with some of the leading families in Kanawha County, (West) Virginia.
